Professional Reviews

Below are reviews of my professional website by two higher education professionals and one website developer. Feedback has been implemented in the website production. I want to thank these individuals for taking the time to review my website and provide their insight and feedback!

I really like your site as it is easy to navigate to get the information that I wanted to see.  I liked the links at the bottom of your photo and to have an option to click on some links on the side of the page.

I didn't really like how your welcome statement was laid out.  I like to be able to scroll through the information without back tracking to the top to keep reading.  I love the look of the rocks, but not a big fan of the bright yellow/green.  Maybe a color that is more earthy like a green to match the background in your photo as it is more of a flow issue (maybe pull the pink flowers out of the background in your photo?)

Loved your video, if I had anything to say, it would be to slow down just a bit.  Seemed rushed.  Gave great information about you and was really entertaining.

Great job, I love it!  Oh, and your hired!!!

Ease in navigation (links, organized layout)
  • The site is easy to navigate and organized well. I appreciate the homepage including endorsements and links to Resume, CV and Letter of Intent as you scroll, in addition to appearing in the main navigation. The layout is clean and simple to read, void of clutter that could distract from content. I enjoy the layout of the site featuring large images on the left, written content of the right. It looks great on mobile, too.

Visual appeal (font, colors, pictures, icons)
  • The visual appeal of the site looks professional and pleasing to the eye. I love the pop of chartreuse green throughout the site; it flows nicely with the photos and black/grey text and buttons. All photos are high resolution, the fonts are consistent and easy to read, and icons are recognizable. The headshot is professional, friendly and engaging.

Usefulness (bio-profile)
  • I find the site to include useful and relevant information across the board. From “My Story” to Resume and CV, it’s easy to gain a quick understanding of background and qualifications in addition to what makes Amanda stand out from her peers. Under the M.ED. Program section, I admire the brief descriptions and previews of the documents, in addition to the ability to download them. This is useful in giving the audience an idea of the content before downloading large documents to their computer. The resources listed on the Students page are applicable and helpful.

Suggestions
  • Letter of Intent page - some of the spacing is off under “My qualifications include” - I suggest adding bullet points to organize this section and keep the spacing consistent.
  • I suggest adding clickable links in text when possible - example: at the bottom of many pages, link to email address where it says “Contact [email protected] with questions.” On Students page, have logos and listed links for APTA and CPTA clickable. Also have url for LinkedIn clickable.
  • Adding your “About” page elsewhere besides the navigation might make it easier to find for those interested. I suggest linking it from the “Contact” page or as a link at the top of the homepage where the Contact button and social icons are.
  • For consistency and the added pop of color, I would make sure to include the green bar with a photo or closing information at the bottom of every page, even if it’s always “Contact with questions.” I suggest adding it to the Students and Contact pages, and adding something to the empty green bar under Statement Paper.

-  The font is a little too light on the introduction page and the endorsement page.  It had my eyes straining a bit.

-  On the video, the audio quality is very poor and the distortion is a big distraction to what’s being said.

-  On the video, I felt like I was being read to rather than being spoken to.  I’d be more engaged if it felt more conversational.

-  On the video, the yellow font is illegible.  The graphics work really well.

-  The first line of Christine’s endorsement is awkward … “and work ethic like Amanda”.  I was distracted by it.

-  The first line of Cindy’s endorsement is awkward, it’s saying your clients share your compassion and expertise.  A comma between “…clients, sharing”   will make compassion and expertise just your attributes, not your clients.

I apologize if I sound critical, just trying to help.  I do think the site is well designed and is a great way of introducing you.
